PCB Chairman Confirms Tri-Nation Series in UAE Ahead of Asia Cup 2025

The Asia Cup 2025 is just weeks away. The Pakistan Cricket Board made a beneficial move by scheduling a tri-series in the UAE. Pakistan will play this series before the Asia Cup 2025 starts. It will be a good warm-up for the players to understand the conditions.

PCB Chairman makes it official

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirms the tri-nation series in the UAE. The chairman revealed the confirmation on July 27, 2025. When he was speaking with Modia in the post-AGM meeting, he said:

“Yes, it’s confirmed and will take place before the Asia Cup in the UAE.”

This statement confirms that it will help the team to prepare for the big event.

The ACB chairman, Mirwais Ashra, also confirms the statement:

 “Yes, it will help us prepare better for the Asia Cup.”

Who’s Playing in the Tri-Series?

Since this is a tri-series, three teams will participate in this event. The question arises: which teams will participate in the tri-series? 

As we have mentioned before, the Pakistan chairman has confirmed the tri-series. It means Pakistan will participate there. The other two teams are Afghanistan and the UAE. It was a two-team series between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan proposed that the UAE should join them in the tri-series.

Why Was the UAE Chosen as the Venue?

Pakistan and Afghanistan took a strategic decision, choosing the UAE as the host of the series. Both the boards knew the UAE would be the host of the Asia Cup 2025. They proposed this series but made it unconfirmed.

After the AGM, the Pakistan and Afghanistan boards officially confirmed the tri-series. They will try to read the conditions and make their plans according to that.

Possible Dates and Format

It is confirmed that the tri-nation series between Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE is in T20I format. Each team will play two T20I matches, and then two teams will clash in the final. So, there is no concern about the format.

The reports suggest that the tri-series will start in late August 2025. It will take 5-6 days to end this series. After this, teams will start to practice for the Asia Cup 2025. It will be a big clash then in the big tournament.
